We are going to build on the strip piecing techniques from last week with Block 2, Four Patch Chain.
You will need 2 colors and a background fabric.
Fabric A - Color 1
Fabric B - Color 2
Fabric C - Background
Cutting:
Fabric A & B - Cut 1 – 2 ½” x 10” rectangle
Fabric A & B - Cut 1 – 2 ½” x 5” rectangle
Fabric C - Cut 2 – 2 ½” x 10”
Fabric C - Cut 4 – 4 ½” squares
Sewing:
Sew a Fabric C 2 ½” x 10” rectangle to a Fabric A 2 ½” x 10” rectangle. Press toward Fabric A. Sew a Fabric C 2 ½” x 10” rectangle to a Fabric B 2 ½” x 10” rectangle. Press toward Fabric B.
Cut the above strip sets into 4 – 2 ½” x 4 ½” segments.
Sew these segments into 2 Fabric A Four Patches and 2 Fabric B Four Patches.
Sew the Fabric A 2 ½” x 5” rectangle to the Fabric B 2 ½” x 5” rectangle. Press toward Fabric A.
Cut the above strip set into 2 – 2 ½” x 4 ½” segments.
Sew these segments into a Four Patch.
Complete the block by placing your Four Patch blocks and Background squares as shown creating the chain design.
Sew the blocks together into 3 rows and press seams toward Fabric C squares.
Sew the 3 rows together to complete the block. Press seams in one direction.
Congratulations, you completed Block 2.
