Block of the Week Block 11 Attic Window

Here is a little orange and blue for all of the Denver Bronco fans out there. Another simple block this month (hopefully noone is minding some of the simplicity of these blocks we have done so far).

You will need 2 colors and a background.

Fabric A - Color 1

Fabric B - Color 2

Fabric C - Background

Cutting:

Fabric A - Cut 1 - 5" square and 1 - 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle

Fabric B - Cut 1 - 5" square and 1 - 4 1/2" x 8 1/2" rectangle

Fabric C - Cut 3 - 4 1/2" squares

Fabric C - Cut 2 - 5" squares

Sewing:

Draw a line on the wrong side of the 2 Fabric C - 5" squares.

Place the 2 Fabric C squares, right sides together with the Fabric A  square and the Fabric B square. Chain piece these, sewing 1/4" on either side of the drawn line.

Cut these apart on the drawn line.

You will have 2 slightly oversized Half Square Triangles of Fabric A and Fabric B. You only need 1 of each in this block.

Trim these 2 Half Square Triangles down to 4 1/2".

Layout the pieces of your block as shown.

Sew together in rows. Press toward the Fabric C squares.

Sew these rows together to complete the block.

Attic Window block is complete!

Don't forget to post your block pictures on the Ruth's Stitchery Facebook page to be entered into the March drawing.
