We are taking a break from triangles this week and we are doing some easy strip piecing with the block Three by Three. I also wanted to bring in some of the colors from previous weeks.
You will need 4 Colors and a Background Fabric.
Fabric A - Color 1
Fabric B - Color 2
Fabric C - Color 3
Fabric D - Color 4
Fabric E - Background
Cutting:
Fabric A, B, and C - Cut 1 - 1 7/8" x 14" strip
Fabric D - Cut 3 - 1 7/8" x 14" strips
Fabric E - Cut 3 - 1 7/8" x 14" strips
Sewing:
Lay out the strips into sets as shown:
Fabric A, E, D
Fabric B, E, D
Fabric C, E, D
Sew the strip sets together.
Press seams in one direction.
Strip sets should measure 4 1/2" wide.
Cut the strip set into 3 - 4 1/2" squares.
Repeat for the other 2 strip sets.
Lay out the 9 segments, alternating the direction of the strips as shown.
Sew the segments into rows. Press toward the segments that are vertical.
Sew the rows together to complete the Three by Three block.
Hope you enjoyed this fun but simple block!
Don't forget to post a picture of your blocks to the Ruth's Stitchery Facebook page to be entered into the March drawing!
