Sewing:
We will begin with the Half Square Triangles. We are making them slightly oversized so you can trim them down. Start by drawing a diagonal line on teh wrong side of the 4 Fabric F 3" squares.
Place a Fabric F square from above right sides together with the Fabric A squares. Sew 1/4" from both sides of the drawn line.
Cut apart on the drawn line.
Press toward Fabric B. Repeat for the remaining F and B squares. You will have 8 slightly oversized Half Square Triangles.
Trim the Half Square Triangles to 2 1/2".
Take the Half Square Triangles from above and 4 of the Fabric B squares and the Fabric C squares and lay them out as shown.
Sew the top 2 squares together and the bottom 2 squares together. Press toward the Fabric B and C squares.
Sew these 2 rows together. Press seam open. You will have 4 units that measure 4 1/2" square.
Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of the remaining 8 Fabric B squares and the 8 Fabric F 2 1/2" squares.
Take 4 of the Fabric D rectangles and 4 Fabric B squares and 4 Fabric F squares.
Place a Fabric B square right sides together on the Fabric D rectangle as shown.
Sew just to the outside edge of the drawn line.
Trim the corner, leaving a 1/4" seam.
Press toward Fabric B. Repeat this step for the other 3 pieces.
Place a Fabric F square right sides together as shown. Make sure the line is going in the same direction as the Fabric B piece.
Sew just to the outside edge of the drawn line.
Trim the corner leaving 1/4" seam.
Press toward Fabric F. Repeat for the other 3 pieces. You will have 4 units that look like this.
Now we will make 4 units like above but the angle will be the opposite.
Take the remaining 4 Fabric D rectangles, Fabric B and Fabric F squares.
Place a Fabric B square right sides together with the Fabric D rectangle as shown.
Sew just outside the drawn line.
Trim off the corner leaving a 1/4" seam.
Press toward Fabric B. Repeat for the other 3 pieces.
Place a Fabric F square right sides together as shown. Make sure the angle is the same as Fabric C.
Sew just to the outside edge of the drawn line. Trim corner leaving 1/4" seam.
Press toward Fabric F. Repeat for the remaining pieces. You will have 4 units that look like this.
Now take the 2 sets of units from above and lay them out as shown.
Sew these together and press the seam open. You will have 4 units that measure 4 1/2".
To complete the block, lay out all of the units as shown with the Fabric E square in the middle.
Sew these units together into rows. Press toward the Half Square Triangle units and the center square.
Sew the 3 rows together. Press seams toward the center row.
Your Blueberry Pie block is complete! I love this block, I hope you enjoyed it too.
